What they are looking for
VCU research grant awardee Karina Achico and producer Lici Simmons are casting Superstars, a non-union student short film shooting in Richmond, Virginia, tentatively January 21 to 25. The story follows Aimee and Beverly, identical twin superheroes whose bond is tested when an alien steals Aimee's transformation ring. Only identical twins can audition for Aimee and Beverly. It is paid for the twins, with a $200 stipend each; the other roles are unpaid, and meals are provided for everyone. Local hire only, for Richmond area actors. Send a headshot, resume and reel by email or through the online form. The listing does not give a closing date. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
If you and your twin are applying, send one email with both headshots side by side, since the story hinges on how alike and how different you read on camera. A reel with any action, adventure or comedy material helps a lot here. For the other roles, a short self tape with a playful but grounded take works well. Shooting runs five days in late January, so confirm your availability and ask how the stipend is paid.
How to apply to this casting call
- Check that you fit. Read the profile they want carefully, and it is based in Richmond, Virginia, the United States.
- Get your materials ready: recent photos of the child; a parent or guardian submits (see auditions for kids and teens).
- Apply through the original listing from Karina Achico (VCU): the button at the end of this page takes you there. The listing has no closing date, so we treat it as open until October 31, 2026.
- If they call you back, there may be a second round: the callback. It is unpaid: ask what they cover (travel, meals) and whether you get the footage for your reel.
