How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
University students are shooting «Dor», a short film about learning to accept the absence of someone you love. They are looking for two actors to play siblings: a boy ages 15 to 17 and a young woman ages 18 to 22, both with curly or wavy hair, dark brown eyes and a fair or light olive complexion. They want sensitivity, a natural presence on camera and the ability to show emotion through the eyes and body; prior experience is optional. Filming takes place on November 15 and 16 in Mexico City. It is paid: a small stipend, with meals and transportation included. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Since the film tells most of its story through looks, a short close-up video helps: stay silent and think of someone you miss, without forcing tears. Shoot photos straight on, in natural light, hair down. Submissions close November 8 and filming is a week later, so make sure you are free on the 15th and 16th. If you are a minor, ask them to talk with your parents.
