How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
A commercial for a betting company is casting supporting actors with short lines, in a scene set in the living room of a middle-class apartment. The roles are a woman ages 65 to 75, warm, with short, wavy gray hair; a man ages 25 to 35, slim, with curly hair and an energetic personality; and a man ages 45 to 55 with a graying beard and mustache and a charismatic presence. All three must be Latino and come across as natural on camera. Filming is on November 16 in Mexico City, and the ad will run in the United States for one year. It is paid: 500 US dollars per person. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
All three roles support the lead, so the key is coming across as natural: record a short clip reacting with joy to good news, as if you were in your own living room. Send current photos that clearly show your hair and, for the men, your facial hair, since the listing describes both in detail. Because the spot runs for a year in the United States, ask whether the 500 dollar fee covers those image rights.
