How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
A production is casting performers of Australian and North American origin for several web commercials filming in Lyon, France, in early December. The roles are five Australian men 55 and over, one Australian woman 55 and over and one North American woman in the same age range. You must speak English with your native accent, Australian or American, and mixed backgrounds are very welcome. It is paid, including broadcast rights, and travel expenses are covered. They ask for three photos and a short video introducing yourself in English with your accent. The call is open to performers based in Europe and closes November 20. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
The introduction video is mandatory and carries a lot of weight: film it facing the camera in window light, talking in English about where you are from and what you do, without toning down your accent. For the three photos, a smiling close-up, a neutral one and a full-length shot in simple clothes work well. Before accepting, confirm the exact dates, how long the broadcast rights last and which countries the ads will run in.
