How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
An independent crew is looking for leads for a short film made for the festival circuit, shooting in the city of Buenos Aires. They want actors and actresses who read as 25 to 30 years old and feel at ease working with dogs, since there are animals on set. You need to be available during November; the shoot date is still to be confirmed. It is unpaid: in exchange, you get the footage for your reel. To apply, email your acting reel and a short introduction. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Since the dog is part of the story, mention in your email whether you have or have had dogs, and add a photo or short clip with one, relaxed and unposed. If your reel is long, point to the timestamp of a simple, intimate scene. Before you send anything, ask for the shoot date and how many days it runs, since November fills up fast, and whether the footage comes edited or raw.
