What they are looking for
Max's House Productions is casting actors, singers, puppeteers, clowns and pole dancers for a closed developmental workshop of the new musical «Max's House», with book and lyrics by Max Berry, music by Peter DiMaggio and direction by Eliza Vecchiarelli. The show borrows the tools of children's television, like joy and curiosity, to tell an adult story about a big life change. The workshop runs evenings from January 25 to February 1 in New York and is meant to develop the script with the writers and get it on its feet. Fill out the online form with a headshot, resume, vocal range, 32 bars of a comedic song and a one-minute video of you playing with a puppet you make at home. It is non-union. The listing does not mention pay. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
The puppet video is what will set you apart: build it from things around the house, like a sock or a box, and give it a clear voice and goal in that one minute. For the 32 bars, pick a comedic song with a clear button, in the playful tone of a kids' show. The form closes November 22 at 11:59 p.m. Ask whether the workshop is paid before you block out that week in January.
