How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
A student short film shooting in the Caballito neighborhood of Buenos Aires is looking for an actress ages 30 and up, or who can play that age. You need to be available on November 6 and 7, which are the shoot days. It is unpaid: you get the footage for your reel, travel expenses and catering. The listing asks you to send your materials by email, without saying what to include, and gives few details about the story or the character. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
The shoot is this Friday and Saturday, so write today with two recent photos, a short resume and a link to your reel. Since the listing does not describe the story, ask for the script or a synopsis and find out which program and university the short is for. If they send you scenes, read them aloud before any audition. Also confirm the call times for each day and the exact address in Caballito.
