What they are looking for
Disney Theatrical Productions is holding an Equity Principal Audition for possible future replacements in the Broadway production of Aladdin, with casting by The TRC Company. Roles include Aladdin and Jasmine, in their 20s, Middle Eastern or North African; the Genie, 30s to 40s, a Black performer with a jazz style; Aladdin's friends Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, 20s to early 30s; and the Sultan, Jafar, and Iago, 40s to 50s. The audition is November 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Pearl Studios. It is an Equity call. It is paid: $2,799 weekly minimum. Prepare a brief musical theater song that shows your range and bring a printed headshot and resume. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
The listing spells out each role's vocal range, so pick a song that hits those notes comfortably: up to A4 for Aladdin, a belt to E for Jasmine, strong falsetto for the Genie. Bring sheet music marked clearly for the accompanist. Since these are future replacements, a call could come months later, so keep the contact details on your resume current.
