What they are looking for
Fulton Theatre and Maine State Music Theatre are co-producing My Fair Lady and holding Equity Principal Auditions in New York. Roles include Eliza Doolittle (20 to 30, soprano, Cockney and Standard British dialects), Colonel Pickering and Alfred P. Doolittle (50 to 70), Mrs. Higgins and Mrs. Pearce (60 to 80) and Karpathy (20 to 30), plus understudies for Higgins and Freddy. Rehearsals at the Fulton begin April 1, 2027, and the Maine run plays in June. It is paid: $1,500 per week. Auditions are December 4 and December 12 at Pearl Studios; prepare a brief cut of a golden age musical theater song in the style of the show, with an accompanist provided. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
They want a golden age musical theater song with no pop or rock: choose a short cut that shows your range and fits the style of the show. If you are going for Eliza or Doolittle, work on your Cockney, since it is part of the role. There are two dates, so aim for the first one if you can. Make sure April and May in Lancaster and June in Maine are open on your calendar.
