How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
A theater cycle of four short plays by one author, two comedies and two monologues, is completing its cast of seven in the Villa Pueyrredón neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The open roles are Cisco, a Sancho Panza type; skinny Gálvez, tall and thin; a bad-tempered niece; a cheeky, outgoing nephew; and Dany, a monologuist. The listing gives no ages and asks for prior experience and commitment. Rehearsals run once a week, pause in mid December, resume in mid February, and the show opens in April 2027. It is unpaid; the group works as a cooperative with no producer. Send your resume and acting link by email. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Say in your email which role you want: Cisco and Gálvez work as a mismatched pair, so your build may help you choose. If you are going for Dany, it helps to send a monologue filmed in one take. Before writing, check that you can keep up weekly rehearsals through April, with the summer break in the middle. It also makes sense to ask who directs, how box office is split, and who wrote the plays.
