What they are looking for
STRANGEGIRLZZ Theater Co. is looking for femme and queer performers for Tween B!tches: Christmas Edition, a high energy holiday comedy spectacular featuring characters from Mean Girls, Glee, Victorious, High School Musical, The Grinch and American Horror Story: Coven. Most roles, like Regina George, Sharpay, Santana and Jade West, are in their 20s and 30s, with a few up to their 50s, such as Fiona Goode; you need strong comedic acting, pop vocals and big stage presence. In person callbacks are November 19 in Midtown, there are two or three rehearsals between December 11 and 21, and the show is December 22 at Caveat on the Lower East Side. It is non-union and the listing does not mention pay. Email a headshot, resume and a comedic song or video by November 17. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Pick one character before you submit and build everything around it: a pop song with a comic payoff beats a pretty ballad. Watch a clip of that character and borrow one recognizable gesture or catchphrase without sliding into impersonation. Use the exact subject line the listing asks for with your name, since submissions close at 50 entries, so it pays to send this week. Ask whether there is a fee or a ticket split.
