How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
An agency that describes itself as well known, without giving its name, is looking for a woman for a video project shot in Bogotá, Colombia. The profile is very specific: a woman ages 20 to 35, fair skinned, who is currently breastfeeding (a nursing mother). The listing does not explain what the project is about or give shoot dates. It is paid, although the amount is not stated. Submissions close on November 25. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Before you apply, ask what kind of piece this is (an ad, a documentary, fiction) and how breastfeeding will be shown, so you can decide whether you are comfortable. It helps to get the pay, the shoot hours and whether you can bring your baby or a caregiver in writing. Send a front facing photo and a full length shot in natural light, fully dressed. Also confirm where the footage will be used and for how long.
