What they are looking for
San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is holding an Equity Principal Audition (EPA) for Twelfth Night, part of its 2027 Free Shakespeare in the Park season. Actors of all identities, genders and ages are encouraged to audition, and local Bay Area actors are especially welcome. It is paid under an LOA contract: $807 weekly minimum for rehearsals and $143.50 per performance, with two to four shows a week. Auditions are November 15 in San Francisco by appointment; after booking, fill out the audition form and email your headshot and resume. Prepare one classical monologue up to two minutes or two contrasting ones up to one minute each. First rehearsal is no earlier than June 5, 2027. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Pick verse over prose if you can: at an outdoor Shakespeare festival they want to see you reach the back of the park without losing the text. If you prepare two, make them truly contrast, one comic and one tragic. Book your slot early and leave the printed headshot at home, since they want it by email. Make sure you can be available from June through September 2027.
