What they are looking for
Leslie Hill-King and Fallon Goldsmith are producing and directing I Wish My Mom Told Me This, the first Non-Singers Cabaret, a night for performers outside musical theater to show their work in a classic New York cabaret setting. The show is December 14 at 7 p.m. at The Reverie Room, with one to three rehearsals scheduled around your availability. Submit a one to three minute contemporary monologue or scene, ideally one that speaks to girlhood. A recording you already have is fine. Submissions go through the online form by November 11. It is a non-union project. The listing does not mention pay. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Look through your material for a monologue about growing up, a mother or something you wish you had known as a girl, since that is the theme of the night and it will help you stand out. In a cabaret the audience sits close, so an intimate piece with some humor plays better than a big stage performance. If your clip runs over three minutes, trim it. Before November 11, make sure you are free on the night of December 14 and ask whether there is any pay.
