What they are looking for
Playwright Ian James Booth and director Belle Flanegan are casting two male-presenting actors for Milky Way, a 30-minute play in the 2026 Gene Frankel Theatre Festival. It follows two young men at the end of their rope who take the leap and hit the road. Calvin is a burned-out gifted kid stuck behind a gas station counter, writing songs for their band; Jake is a first-generation college student carrying his family's hopes. Tech and dress is December 2, with performances December 6, 12, and 18. It is paid: a $250 stipend for the run, non-union. Actors must be fully off book for tech. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Read both character descriptions and pick one: Calvin calls for restless, dreamy humor, and Jake for a stoic front that is about to crack. A short self-tape of a contemporary monologue in a similar tone makes a good companion to the form. Since you must be off book by tech, plan time to memorize a 30-minute two-hander. Before you apply, check that you are free on all four December dates, including the evening show on the 18th.
