How to Audition for Amazon Prime Video

In this article

Quick answer: to land Prime Video castings you have to reach the people who build the casts, and in Latin America and Spain they almost never work at Amazon. Spanish-language series and films are made by production companies in each country, such as K&S Films in Argentina, Corazón Films in Mexico or Pokeepsie Films in Spain, and the casting is in the hands of local casting directors and casting agencies. In the United States, projects are also cast by casting directors, and breakdowns reach talent agents and, for some roles, actors on Actors Access. Prepare your acting resume, headshots, reel and self-tape, register with the casting agencies in your city and follow those production companies.

Reviewed in October 2026.

Every time Prime Video announces a series shot in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Bogotá or Madrid, the same question comes up: where is the Amazon casting? That casting exists, but other people run it: the production company that makes the series and the casting director that company hires. Understanding that chain saves you from sending your materials to places where nobody will look at them and helps you recognize fake notices.

How Prime Video castings work

Prime Video is Amazon’s streaming service. Its original series and films are developed inside Amazon MGM Studios, the division in charge of entertainment projects, and each market has executives who decide what gets produced. In February 2026, for example, the platform named Camila Misas as Director of Original Content in Mexico and said it was already talking with Mexican production companies and creators.

Note that detail: the platform negotiates with production companies, not with actors. The usual path of a project is this:

  • Prime Video approves the idea and finances it, alone or as a co-production.
  • A local production company takes charge of the shoot and hires the director, the writers, the technical crew and a casting director.
  • The casting director, who can be one person or an agency, builds lists of actors, asks representatives and their own database for materials and, sometimes, opens public calls for small speaking roles, minor parts or background actors.
  • For the lead roles, the final choice usually goes through the director, the production company and the platform.

It is the same model Netflix uses, as we explain in our guide on how to audition for Netflix. That is why the names that help you most are those of the production companies and, above all, of the people who sign the casting. Those names appear in the end credits of each episode and in the credits sheets that circulate when a shoot starts. The same goes for HBO Max, as we explain in how to audition for HBO Max.

How Prime Video casts in the United States

In the United States, Prime Video projects are also cast through casting directors. Amazon MGM Studios has its own casting department, according to a Variety report from October 2025, and roles are announced through breakdowns. According to the Breakdown Services FAQ, the casting director decides whether a breakdown goes to talent agents and managers, to actors on Actors Access, or to both. So a talent agent or manager who can submit you matters, and a current Actors Access profile helps you see the roles released to actors. We explain both in our guide to casting websites for actors.

Be wary of anyone who charges a fee to get you cast on Prime Video: the U.S. Federal Trade Commission warns that paying to get a job is always a sign of a scam.

What Prime Video produces in Spanish

The platform’s plans for the region are big, and every new project is a shoot that needs a cast. In August 2026, Prime Video announced a US$2 billion investment in Latin America between 2027 and 2030, with more than 25 new original productions, according to CNN en Español. In Spain, the platform celebrated its ten years with 35 originals in that decade, according to Vertele.

Among the Latin American titles announced in August 2026 are the second season of Menem, Las malas (an adaptation of Camila Sosa Villada’s novel), Valentina (inspired by the murder of a Colombian DJ), La venta (set in Chiapas) and new seasons of La oficina, the Mexican comedy directed by Gaz Alazraki, and of El juego de las llaves. In Spain, the platform presented the second season of Reina Roja, the series Mataleón with Najwa Nimri and the film Zeta 2, by Dani de la Torre, among other projects.

Tip: take each announcement as a clue. Write down the title, find out which production company makes it and follow it before the shoot starts.

The materials you need ready

When a casting director asks you for materials, they usually give you little time. Have them put together in advance:

  • Acting resume: one page with your details, training, experience and specific skills, such as languages, accents, singing, sports or a driver’s license.
  • Headshots: current photos without filters, with a close-up, a mid-shot and a full-body shot, even lighting and simple clothes.
  • Reel: one or two minutes with your best scenes, starting with the strongest. If you are short on filmed work, record short scenes with good light and good sound.
  • Self-tape: many first auditions are requested recorded from home. Practice the format before a request arrives: a steady frame, a plain background, clean audio and someone to read lines with you off camera.

To review each piece, see our guide on how to prepare your audition materials and our explainer on what a self-tape is. Keep everything in a shareable folder with clear file names: when a casting call closes in a couple of days, replying fast counts.

How to get on the radar of Prime Video castings

Register with the agencies and casting databases in your country

Casting directors build their lists with actors they already know or have in their database. Register with the casting agencies in your city, which, if they are serious, will not charge you for it. Once you have experience and good materials, look for a talent agency: many casting calls for series are closed and arrive through representatives. In the Latin America casting directory you will find agencies, Instagram accounts and websites by country.

Follow the production companies and the people who sign the casting

Follow on social media the production companies that have already worked with Prime Video in your country (below you have a verified list) and, above all, their casting directors. When you see a series from the platform shot near you, stay until the end of the credits and note who did the casting. Over time you will have your own list of names to follow.

Keep in mind that many production companies separate their channels. The website of Pokeepsie Films, for example, has a resume form meant for technical positions. Acting materials go through each project’s casting director.

Look for casting calls with a name and surname

When there is an open call, it is posted by the production company, the casting director or an agency, almost always with the project’s name or a working title. Try searches like “Prime Video series casting Argentina 2026” or “Prime Video casting call actors Mexico 2026” (and the Spanish versions, such as “casting serie Prime Video Argentina 2026”), check Google’s images tab, where social media posts show up, and always look at who signs the notice. At Casting and Acting, the open calls for series are gathered in TV and series castings.

Add hours on camera

On-camera acting workshops, film school shorts and commercials give you craft and new scenes for your reel. For recurring roles, proven experience counts.

How to spot fake notices that use the Amazon name

A brand this well known is ideal bait for scams. Be suspicious if:

  • they message you on WhatsApp or by direct message from an unknown number or account that says it is “from Amazon” or “from the Prime Video casting”;
  • they ask for money to register, for a “reservation fee”, for a headshot session with a photographer of their choosing or for a mandatory course before the audition;
  • the notice uses the platform’s name but forgets to name the production company and the person doing the casting;
  • they rush you with deadlines of minutes or ask for bank details, verification codes or photos in underwear;
  • they promise you a role without having seen you act.

Before replying, look up the production company and the casting director on your own and check whether the series appears in official announcements or in trade press. A serious casting director never charges you to audition, and representatives, when they apply, keep a percentage of what you earn on a job they landed, never an up-front fee. You will find more warning signs in our note on how to spot a fake casting call.

Prime Video production companies and casting by country

These production companies have already made series or films for Prime Video, according to national media, trade press and official sites. Follow them and check the credits of their projects to identify their casting directors.

Argentina

  • Oficina Burman (The Mediapro Studio): produced Iosi, el espía arrepentido, the series directed by Daniel Burman and Sebastián Borensztein that premiered in 2022.
  • K&S Films: produced El fin del amor, the series starring Lali Espósito.
  • La Unión de los Ríos and Kenya Films: co-produced Argentina, 1985 with Amazon Studios, which reached Prime Video in October 2022. Its casting director, Mariana Mitre, won the Cóndor de Plata award for best casting direction for that film.
  • Underground Producciones: behind Amor animal, the series created by Sebastián Ortega that Prime Video announced for 2026, with Valentina Zenere and Franco Masini.

A useful resource: the Premios Cóndor de Plata, Argentina’s film critics’ awards, have a casting direction category, and each year’s list of nominees shows you who casts Argentine film.

Mexico

  • Corazón Films: developed El juego de las llaves with Prime Video and Pantaya. The series, starring Maite Perroni, added a fourth season among the 2026 announcements. Its news is on the Corazón Films site.
  • The Immigrant: produced the second season of Nadie nos va a extrañar, directed by Samuel Kishi Leopo and released in August 2026.

For the other Mexican projects, such as La oficina, look for the credits sheet when the shoot is announced: it lists the production company and, sometimes, the casting director.

Colombia

  • TeleColombia: produced Cochina envidia together with Carolina Cuervo, who was also the showrunner and one of its stars. It premiered on Prime Video in October 2022.
  • Caracol Televisión: in 2021 Prime Video announced A grito herido, a musical romantic comedy produced by Caracol.

For new announcements, such as Valentina, follow the shoot news and find out which production company and casting director are in charge.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazon hold direct castings for Prime Video?

Almost never in Latin America and Spain. Prime Video approves and finances the projects, but the cast is built by the casting director that each production company hires. If a notice says it comes “directly from Amazon” and names no one else, be suspicious. Disney+ also leaves the casting of its series in the hands of each production company, as we explain in how to audition for Disney.

Where are Prime Video castings posted?

On the social media of the production companies and casting directors, at casting agencies and on specialized websites. Important roles are usually settled in closed castings, by invitation and through representatives, so it also pays to be in the databases of the agencies in your country.

Who do I send my materials to for a Prime Video series?

To whoever does the casting: casting agencies, casting directors and calls that clearly say who organizes them. Production companies usually pass those materials on to each project’s casting director, and some, like Pokeepsie Films, have a resume form meant for technical positions.

How do I know if an Amazon Prime casting is real?

Check that it names the production company or the casting director, that you can verify those names on your own and that nobody asks you for money. A WhatsApp message from an unknown number, in a rush and asking for payment, has all the signs of a scam.

Do I need experience or an agent for a Prime Video casting?

For lead roles and recurring characters, track record counts for a lot and representatives open the door to closed castings. For small speaking roles, background work or very specific profiles, more open calls appear. In the meantime, build experience in theater, short films and commercials, and keep your materials up to date.

How does Prime Video cast in the United States?

Projects are cast through casting directors, and Amazon MGM Studios has its own casting department. The casting director decides whether a breakdown goes to talent agents and managers, to actors on Actors Access, or to both, so a talent agent who can submit you and a current Actors Access profile both help. The Federal Trade Commission warns that paying to get a job is always a sign of a scam.
