What they are looking for
Sebastián de Brito is casting Goliath, his short film at ESCAC, the Catalonia film school near Barcelona. In a housing development, Javier, a deaf man, crosses the family home to get his mother out, while his brother Pedro waits for him, out of control. The roles are Javier, ages 40 to 50 and heavyset, who will learn sign language during prep; Pedro, ages 35 to 45 and slim, who shoots shirtless; and the mother, ages 65 to 75. There is a choreographed, rehearsed fight scene. Auditions are October 30 and November 2, 3 and 4, and filming is November 9 and 10 in Catalonia, Spain. It is unpaid. Send recent photos and a demo reel by email. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Put the character's name in the email subject line, as the listing asks, since that is how they sort submissions. For Javier and Pedro, include a full-length photo that shows your build, because physicality is part of the conflict. If you have experience with fight scenes or contact sports, mention it. Auditions start October 30, so write now and confirm you are free on November 9 and 10.
