What they are looking for
A group of Television and Video students at Universidad CEU San Pablo is casting the lead in Table for Two, a fictional short of about three minutes with no dialogue. They are looking for an actress 30 or older to play a woman who lives alone and every evening sets the table for two, cooks and eats by herself. The role calls for conveying loneliness and a subtle emotional shift through expression and body language alone. Professional experience is optional. The film shoots in an apartment in Madrid, Spain, on Tuesdays, November 10 and 17. The listing does not mention pay. Send your name, age, a recent photo and your availability for both days. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Everything rides on your eyes and hands, so record a one-minute clip without speaking: set the table, sit down and look at the empty chair, without overplaying the sadness. Add a recent headshot in natural light. Write in English, like the listing, and say in your first line whether you are free on both Tuesdays, November 10 and 17. Ask how many hours each shoot day runs and whether any expenses are covered.
