What they are looking for
Visionbox Studio Theatre, a Denver company with a 16 year history, is staging It's a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play, the radio drama version of the holiday classic, directed by Jennifer McCray Rincon. They are casting every role except George. Auditions are November 3, 5 and 6 from 6 to 9 pm at the International School of Denver, in 10 minute slots booked online. Prepare one contemporary and one Shakespearean monologue, plus an optional song cut with your own recorded track or a cappella. Rehearsals start soon after auditions and the performance is the weekend of December 12. It is paid: $75 per performance. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
In a radio play almost everything rides on your voice, so play with shifts in pace and vocal color in your monologues, since many actors cover more than one character. Choose a Shakespeare piece you know cold so you can focus on clarity. The ten minute slots fill up fast, so book one early and make sure your evenings are open for rehearsals in Denver through November and December.
