What they are looking for
Bring Your Own Theatre (BYOT) is a Chicago group that gathers five writers, five directors and a group of actors each month to create and perform five new plays in 24 hours, non-union and open to any experience level. The November edition starts Friday the 13th at 7 PM with a Google Meet call to announce the theme and groups. On Saturday the 14th, everyone meets at noon at Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro to rehearse and memorize, and the show starts at 7 PM. It is unpaid. Sign up through the form in the listing. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Fast memorization matters most here, so practice learning a page in an hour this week with whatever method works for you. Bring neutral clothes and a couple of pieces that could double as costumes, because the play gets written the night before. Friday's meeting covers consent and comfort, so say clearly what you would rather avoid. Keep all of Saturday free from noon on, since rehearsal runs straight into the show.
