How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
An agency is casting a horror short film, a student thesis project shooting in Santa Marta, Colombia, in December 2026. There are three roles: Santiago, a 14 year old boy, expressive, with olive skin and a restrained acting style; Raquel, a 50 year old woman with a Caribbean coast look who can convey intense emotion; and Óscar, a 55 year old man with a Caribbean coast look, a sturdy build and strong features. It is paid, although the amount is not stated. They ask for a short video explaining why you would like to be part of a horror story and whether you have acting experience. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
In the video, speak to camera calmly and show you can hold tension without overacting: horror works better with still looks than with screams. If you are submitting the boy, it is best for a responsible adult to film it and for parental consent to be clear from the first message. Since this is a student thesis, ask for the exact December dates, whether travel within Santa Marta is covered and how much it pays before you commit.
