What they are looking for
A documentary is looking for the actress who will play Marina Regules, known as the Queen of Karate and an eight-time world champion. They want someone who conveys discipline, firmness and focus, with strong body control, brown eyes, olive to dark skin, short black hair and medium height. On-camera experience is a plus and, above all, karate or martial arts training to perform stances, strikes and blocks with real technique. The listing does not give an age range. It is unpaid. They ask for your name, age, current headshot and full-body photos and a reel if you have one. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Karate counts as much as acting here: if you train, record a short video of a kata or a sequence of strikes and blocks, in good light with your whole body in frame. Mention your belt rank and how many years you have trained. Look up interviews with Marina Regules to see how she speaks and carries herself, and add a photo with a firm expression. Ask when and where they shoot before you confirm.
