What they are looking for
Callboard LLC is seeking non-union actors and singers for a 29-hour reading of Dosan, an original musical about Ahn Chang-ho, the Korean independence activist. All roles are East Asian: men ages 20 to 39 and 30 to 49, tenors and a baritone, and alto women ages 30 to 49. Everyone must be a strong singer and double as ensemble. Rehearsals start November 17 and the presentation is November 21 at the 787 Auditorium. Email a headshot and resume, the roles you want, your vocal range, and a vocal reel or a clip singing a musical theater song. It is paid: $650 per week, non-union. The deadline is November 11. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
For the video, the listing prefers a contemporary or legit song that suits the show's historical feel, so skip pop and pick something with a legato line. Put the exact roles and your vocal range in the email, since they ask for both separately. Reading a little about Ahn Chang-ho and the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai will help you understand the characters. Make sure you are free November 17 through 21.
