What they are looking for
Muffin Top Productions is seeking Equity actors for A Door in Brooklyn, a new contemporary family "traumedy": a recent college grad ruptures his Achilles and ends up stuck on his mother's couch with the family he has spent years avoiding. Roles include Zach, a quippy, charismatic, Jewish 22-year-old. The EPA is Monday, December 7 at the Equity Audition Center in New York; bring a contemporary monologue of two minutes or less and a stapled headshot and resume. Callbacks are December 11, rehearsals start January 10, and the show runs January 29 to 31, 2027, in Brooklyn. It is paid: a Showcase contract with a $500 minimum stipend. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
For a play that mixes humor and grief, choose a contemporary monologue where a joke covers something painful, since that is exactly the tone they describe. Time it to stay under two minutes and staple your headshot and resume before you arrive. If you are going in for Zach, work on how he dodges real feeling with a quip. Callbacks are December 11, so also confirm you can be in New York for all of January.
