What they are looking for
Paper Mill Playhouse is seeking Equity actors for Million Dollar Quartet, the musical about the December 1956 night when Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins jammed at Sun Records, directed by Hunter Foster. All roles will be understudied. The EPA is Monday, November 23 at Pearl Studios in New York, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prepare a brief song in the style of the show, with the sound of 1950s rock and roll, rockabilly, country or rhythm and blues, and bring a hard copy headshot and resume. Rehearsals start February 22, 2027, and performances run March 17 through April 25, with van transportation from midtown Manhattan. It is paid: a COST contract at a $1,214 weekly minimum. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Pick a 1950s song you can deliver with attitude and find the period sound in your phrasing without doing an Elvis or Cash impression. If you play guitar, piano or upright bass, put it near the top of your resume, since this is a show about musicians playing live. Bring a printed headshot and resume, as requested. Before you apply, confirm you can commute to Millburn from late February through late April.
