What they are looking for
The Broadway production of MJ The Musical, still running at the Neil Simon Theatre, is holding an Equity chorus call for ensemble dancers for possible replacements. They want fantastic, dynamic dancers in their 20s and 30s of any ethnicity and gender, and singing is a plus. The show is written by Lynn Nottage, directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, with casting by The Telsey Office. The ECC is Tuesday, November 24 at Pearl Studios, with sessions at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Come warmed up, wear sneakers or dance sneakers, and bring a stapled headshot and resume. It is paid: a Production contract at a $2,799 weekly minimum. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Watch clips of the show's numbers and drill Michael Jackson's style: isolations, clean turns and quick footwork in sneakers, which is the footwear they ask for. Arrive early enough to warm up fully, since dance calls jump straight into the combination. If you sing, note it on your resume, because they count it as a plus. Pick the morning or afternoon session based on when you dance your best, and bring water.
