How to spot a fake casting callWhat they are looking for
An international recording company is looking for young voices for an international commercial project, with the brand and campaign under a non-disclosure agreement. The call is for female voices ages 20 to 30 who are native speakers of Spanish from Spain, French from France or Italian from Italy; nonbinary, trans and gender-fluid talent whose voice fits are also welcome. They want a natural, unpolished delivery with something distinctive, such as a slight rasp, an unusual cadence or a soft lisp. Recorded auditions are due November 3 for Spanish and November 4 for French and Italian, and final recording is expected around mid-November. It is paid. The listing does not say who is casting, so make sure it is a legitimate call before you send your details. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Record a test on your phone as if you were telling a friend a story, then listen back: if it sounds like a voiceover, try again. It helps to show what is distinctive about your voice rather than hide it. There are very few days between the closing date and the audition deadline, so keep them open. Before you sign the non-disclosure agreement, ask how, where and for how long your voice will be used, and whether that includes AI training.
