What they are looking for
Highland Park Players opens its 40th season with Elephant & Piggie's We Are in a Play!, a non-union, family friendly musical about friendship and the joy of theater. The company is seeking performers, including three young performers ages 10 to 16 to round out the ensemble. Auditions are Sunday, November 22, from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at Elite Wellness in Northfield, and video submissions are accepted until 5 PM on November 21. Prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show; there is an accompanist in person, with no tracks or a cappella singing. Performances are February 20, 21, 27 and 28. It is unpaid. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Pick 32 bright, clear bars with humor and lots of facial expression, because the audience is families with young kids. If you go in person, bring sheet music in your key, since there is an accompanist and tracks or a cappella singing are out. If you send a video, have it ready before 5 PM on Saturday the 21st. For kids, confirm the February morning schedule with the family and ask about rehearsal days, which the listing leaves out.
