What they are looking for
Pittsburgh Musical Theater is casting principals and ensemble for Miss Saigon, running March 4 to 14, 2027, at the Byham Theater, directed and choreographed by Darren Lee. Roles include Chris, an American G.I. sergeant ages 20 to 30 of any race, and Kim, a young Vietnamese woman ages 15 to 20 who is Asian. Auditions are December 5 and 6 in Pittsburgh; in-person is preferred, but video is accepted. Prepare a 32-bar cut in the style of the show with sheet music in your key, plus a headshot and resume. It is paid: an LOA contract at a $740 weekly minimum for Equity actors and a $1,000 to $1,500 stipend for non-union actors, with no housing or travel. Local talent gets precedence. Submissions are due December 1. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Bring sheet music in your key, clearly marked for the accompanist, or use the audition material the company shares. For Chris or Kim, pick a song with a big emotional arc, since the breakdown asks for serious dramatic range. If you do not live in Pittsburgh, keep in mind that the non-union stipend covers no travel or housing and local talent gets precedence. Check the production calendar before you apply.
