What they are looking for
Royal Caribbean Entertainment is casting «Mamma Mia!» for its cruise ships, and the cast will also perform «Blue Planet Home», the signature production show aboard Allure of the Seas, three or four times a week. The open call is at Pearl Studios in New York: November 16 for principals and November 17 for ensemble, with sign-in from 9:30 AM and limited spots; callbacks are November 18. Principals should prepare two songs, one traditional musical theater and one pop or rock; ensemble dances first and then sings a 16 bar cut of a pop or rock song. You must be able to travel internationally aboard the ships: rehearsals run April 5 to May 28, 2027 and the contract runs May 29, 2027 to April 16, 2028. It is paid: $3,200 to $5,500 per month. Bring a headshot, resume and your songbook. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Pick your two songs for contrast: a musical theater classic that shows your legato and an energetic pop or rock number, ideally something close to the ABBA sound. If you are going in for ensemble, show up warmed up and in dance clothes, since they see you move before you sing. Get there early on your day, because spots are limited. Before you go, think hard about whether you can live on a ship for almost a year starting in late May 2027.
