What they are looking for
Singular Sensation Arts is staging «Twisted», the Starkid musical parody that retells Aladdin from the villain Ja'far's point of view, directed by Robert Shelley. Roles include Ja'far, ages 25 to 50, tenor; the Princess, ages 18 to 30 who reads as 16, mezzo belt; Aladdin, ages 20 to 35, tenor, comfortable performing shirtless in a small vest; Sherrezade, ages 20 to 40; the Captain, ages 20 to 40; Prince Achmed and the Sultan or Djinn, any age; plus an ensemble ages 14 and up. Auditions are November 14 and 15 at Colorado Dance Arts in Lakewood, with callbacks on November 15. Rehearsals start January 9, 2027, on weekends from 1 to 8 PM, and the show runs March 5 to 14. It is paid: a $250 stipend per actor after closing. Bring a headshot, resume and about a minute of music with a backing track. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Bring your backing track on your phone or a speaker, since there is no pianist: a funny song in Starkid's pop rock style will land better than a serious ballad. If you want the Sultan or Djinn track, also prepare a 30 to 60 second comedic monologue that shows off your timing. Write up your rehearsal conflicts between January 9 and February 28 ahead of time. If you cannot make it in person, video auditions are accepted until 6 PM on November 14.
