What they are looking for
Ethan Fox, a student in a directing class at Columbia University, is looking for performers who sing for a short devised piece that will be shown once in an educational setting. Rehearsals are near 116th Street in Manhattan. You must be available for rehearsals on Tuesday, November 10 and Tuesday, November 17 from 7 to 10 pm, and for the performance on Thursday, November 19, in a slot between 2 and 5 pm. It is unpaid. They ask for a video of you singing one minute of a contemporary song, sent by email. The listing says not to submit after November 15, but the first rehearsal is November 10, so apply sooner. Apply through the original listing.
Castina's tip
Pick a contemporary song that sits comfortably in your voice and shows your personality, not the hardest one: in a devised piece, how you play with others matters more. Film the minute with your phone propped up, from the waist up and in good light. Send it before the 9th, since the first rehearsal is Tuesday the 10th. Confirm you can get to Columbia both Tuesday evenings and Thursday afternoon.
