How to Get Auditions in Chile

In this article

Quick answer: in Chile, most castings come from Santiago casting agencies and production companies such as Casting Calls for Movies, Personajes, Street Casting Chile and Casting Pro, and from platforms such as iCastU. Apply the way each one asks, learn the suggested wages published by SIDARTE (Chile’s actors’ union) and have your acting resume, headshots and reel ready.

Chile has one of the most awarded film industries in the region: A Fantastic Woman (Una mujer fantástica) won the Oscar for best foreign language film in 2018, and the short Bear Story (Historia de un oso) won the animated short Oscar in 2016 (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). In 2026 the country was guest of honor at the Guadalajara Film Festival (BioBioChile) and set a record with three Goya nominations, Spain’s film awards (El Mostrador).

In addition, the IFI program of Corfo (Chile’s economic development agency) and the Ministry of Cultures reimburses up to 30% of the spending of foreign shoots in Chile, and 40% if filming outside the Metropolitan Region (Santiago’s region): HBO, Netflix and Amazon Studios have used it (La Tercera).

Casting Calls for Movies

Watch out for fake castings

Reputable agencies and production companies in Chile charge the people who hire them, not the actors: joining their database or going to a casting has to be free. Be wary if they ask you for money, intimate photos or to go alone, especially if you’re a minor. We explain how to recognize them in how to spot a fake casting call.

Some platforms charge to apply (La Castinera) or to receive the details of the castings (Telón.cl), and some agencies sell photo sessions. Applying to an agency has to be free: if they ask you for money to sign up, be wary.
