How to Get Auditions in Paraguay

TV channels

TV channels hold in-person castings for their reality shows. They are entertainment rather than fiction, but they help you gain experience in front of the camera.

Telefuturo

In 2026 it held open castings for Baila Conmigo Paraguay, with more than 1,000 applicants, and for Calle 7 (Última Hora).

Where to study acting in Paraguay

Training counts in every casting and puts you in touch with directors and fellow cast members. If you’re just starting out, a workshop lets you find out whether you like acting before you commit to a full degree, as we explain in the guide to becoming an actor from scratch.

ISBA (Instituto Superior de Bellas Artes)

ISBA offers an 8-semester Licenciatura (bachelor’s degree) in Dramatic Art, with admission by audition. The entrance prep courses open in January and February, and there is a zero-tuition program for those who qualify.

EMAD “Roque Centurión Miranda” (Instituto Municipal de Arte)

Asunción’s free municipal drama school, with programs in Acting and in Theater Teaching whose degrees are recognized by the MEC (Paraguay’s Ministry of Education and Sciences). Admission is through free interviews and auditions.

Institutions, unions and festivals

Getting to know the film institute, the theater union and the rights management society helps you understand your rights and find out what’s being filmed.

INAP (Instituto Nacional del Audiovisual Paraguayo)

Created by Law 6106 of 2018, it administers the competitive funds for film and the PROAPY incentive, which reimburses 18% of expenses to productions that invest USD 100,000 or more in the country. It also funds training workshops.

CEPATE (Centro Paraguayo de Teatro)

Paraguay’s theater union, which is demanding minimum rate schedules, standardized contracts and social security for actors.

Inter Artis Paraguay

The organization that manages the rights of audiovisual actors, authorized by the DINAPI (Paraguay’s national intellectual property office). Membership is online and asks you to list the works you took part in; its most recent published news is from 2023.

ASUFICC (Festival Internacional de Cine Contemporáneo de Asunción)

Its sixth edition runs from November 24 to 28, 2026, with free admission.

Websites and social accounts that post castings in Paraguay

Besides the accounts above, these websites gather casting calls:

How to prepare for a casting in Paraguay

When a call comes up, the winner is whoever answers fast and with complete audition materials. Have this ready before you write to any agency:

• Acting resume on one page, with your details, measurements, training and experience. Guide: how to make an acting resume.
• Headshots with current photos of your face, profile and full body. You can put them together at home: how to take headshots at home.
• Reel with your best scenes or, if you don’t have any work yet, a one-minute intro video. Guide: how to make an acting reel.
• Self-tape for remote castings: front lighting, a plain background and good audio. More details in what is a self-tape.

Watch out for fake castings

Reputable agencies and production companies in Paraguay charge the people who hire them, not the actors: joining their database or going to a casting has to be free. Be wary if they ask you for money, intimate photos or to go alone, especially if you’re a minor. We explain how to recognize them in how to spot a fake casting call.

Some casting offices sell headshot sessions or training separately. They are optional: if someone requires you to pay to join a database or to go to a casting, be wary.

Frequently asked questions

Where are castings posted in Paraguay?

Mostly on Instagram: on the accounts of casting offices such as Jaheka, Conchita Casting and Castingpy, and on @castingparaguay, which shares casting calls and workshops. You can also check the castings section of Casting and Acting.

What is an advertising casting like in Paraguay?

One commercial actress described it this way: her manager sends her the casting, she records a video saying her first name, last name and height, performs the scene and fills out a form with her clothing sizes (La Nación). Have your intro video ready.

What is the Seguro Social del Artista (artists’ social security) in Paraguay?

In October 2025 the IPS (Instituto de Previsión Social, Paraguay’s social security institute) approved launching the social security plan for artists provided for in Law 4199. The first step is to register in the Téra registry of the Ministry of Culture (InfoNegocios).

Where can I study acting in Paraguay?

In the Licenciatura en Arte Dramático at ISBA, with admission by audition, or at the EMAD of Asunción’s Instituto Municipal de Arte, which is free.

Do I have to pay to apply to a casting in Paraguay?

Applying to a casting has to be free. Some casting offices sell headshot sessions or training separately, but those should not be a requirement: if someone requires them, be wary. Paying for a subscription to a casting website is different: you are buying a service, which only makes sense if it posts calls that fit your profile.

List reviewed in October 2026. Contacts change: if an agency has stopped operating or you know one that is missing, let us know. For other countries, see the Latin America Casting Directory.
