Quick answer: to get auditions in Panama, join the databases of agencies such as Panamá Talent, Castin, Ivo Talents or Yiniva Casting, follow their social accounts (that is where they post their calls) and have your materials ready: acting resume, headshots and reel. Panama also hosts dozens of international shoots every year that hire local talent.
Panama is one of the countries in the region that attracts the most shoots. Since 2012 it has had a film law with a public fund for local productions, and the Film Commission (Comisión Fílmica) refunds 25% of expenses to foreign productions that shoot in the country (Ministry of Commerce and Industries). In 2025, 31 international productions were shot there, and in the first quarter of 2026 alone there were 17 shoots with more than 760 jobs, filled mainly by Panamanian talent (Infobae).
For an actor, that translates into castings for background actors and roles in series, films and commercials. One example: during the shoot of The Suicide Squad (2021) in the Casco Antiguo (Panama City’s historic district), about 60 people in one of the scenes were Panamanian talent (TVN).

How to prepare for a casting in Panama
When a call comes up, the winner is whoever answers fast and with complete audition materials. Have this ready before you write to any agency:
- Acting resume on one page, with your details, measurements, training and experience. Guide: how to make an acting resume.
- Headshots with current photos of your face, profile and full body. You can put them together at home: how to take headshots at home.
- Reel with your best scenes or, if you don’t have any work yet, a one-minute intro video. Guide: how to make an acting reel.
- Self-tape for remote castings: front lighting, a plain background and good audio. More details in what is a self-tape.
Watch out for fake castings
Reputable agencies and production companies in Panama charge the people who hire them, not the actors: joining their database or going to a casting has to be free. Be wary if they ask you for money, intimate photos or to go alone, especially if you’re a minor. We explain how to recognize them in how to spot a fake casting call.
Frequently asked questions
Where are castings posted in Panama?
Most come out on the social accounts of the agencies (Panamá Talent, Castin, Ivo Talents, Yiniva Casting and Cmodels) and on sites that gather calls, such as CastingsCineTV and the castings section of Casting and Acting. For international shoots, calls for background actors are usually posted by local casting directors.
Do I have to pay to sign up with a casting agency in Panama?
Reputable agencies charge the production company or the client, not the actors. If they ask you for money to get into the database, for a required headshot package with their own photographer or to take part in a casting, be wary.
Do I need experience to go to castings in Panama?
For background work, commercials and modeling, many calls accept profiles without experience: Panamá Talent, for example, says you don’t need professional headshots. For series, film and theater they usually ask for training or previous work, so it pays to build experience with short films, theater or workshops.
Which international productions are shot in Panama?
Panama refunds 25% of expenses to foreign productions, and in 2025 it hosted 31 international shoots. Among the best known is The Suicide Squad (2021), which filmed in the Casco Antiguo and in Colón with Panamanian talent.
Where can I study acting in Panama?
The University of Panama has a bachelor’s degree with a specialization in theater arts. The Escuela Nacional de Teatro offers programs starting at age 10. Venues such as Teatro ABA and Teatro en Círculo teach acting courses.
