How to Get Auditions in Venezuela

In this article

Quick answer: in Venezuela, castings come mostly from Caracas casting directors who put out calls on Instagram (Marcos Purroy, Nany Castellanos and Luis Silva Castillo), from accounts that share casting calls (such as @castingcallsvenezuela) and from calls by Venevisión and Villa del Cine. Follow them, write to each one the way they ask and have your acting resume, headshots and reel ready.

Venezuela has a huge telenovela tradition, with a golden age from the 1970s to the 1990s, and in 2023 Venevisión went back to producing fiction (Voz de América). In film, Desde allá (From Afar), by Lorenzo Vigas, became in 2015 the first Latin American film to win the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival (El Mostrador).

Today the local market is small: the 20 Venezuelan films released in 2024 sold 75,436 tickets (El Diario). That is why it pays to closely follow the casting directors who hold calls in the country and, if you live abroad, the searches from other countries that ask for Venezuelan actors. To do that, create a profile on the casting websites of the country where you live.

Casting directors and accounts that put out calls

In Venezuela almost everything goes through Instagram: casting directors post their searches and ask for your materials by direct message or email.

Marcos Purroy Casting

A casting director in Caracas with credits in film, such as La sombra del sol, and in music videos. He posts calls often and receives materials by email. He also teaches paid casting workshops; in 2026 he linked entry to his database with those workshops, so ask beforehand whether it is a requirement.

TV channels and production companies

Calls from TV channels and production companies are announced on their social media, every so often and with short notice, so it is worth following them. In telenovelas, many roles are also filled through closed (invitation-only) castings: we explain how to reach them in the guide to getting cast in TV shows.

Venevisión (Camino a Somos Tú y Yo)

In 2025 it held an open casting in reality format for young people ages 16 to 25 who sing, dance or act, with no fee to audition. According to the channel, more than 20,000 applicants signed up, and seven vertical-format series came out of it in 2026. At the moment there is no open call.

Fundación Villa del Cine

The state film and TV production company, based in Guarenas. It publishes casting calls sporadically on its social media: in 2023, for example, it opened a large casting for a series, also for people without experience.

Independent films (example: Papita, Maní, Tostón 3)

Independent films put out calls on their own social media. In 2026, Papita, Maní, Tostón 3 looked for an actress on Instagram, asking for a reel, photos, a resume and a video by email, and announced that it will post new castings.

How to prepare for a casting in Venezuela

When a call comes up, the winner is whoever answers fast and with complete audition materials. Have this ready before you write to any agency:

Watch out for fake castings

Reputable agencies and production companies in Venezuela charge the people who hire them, not the actors: joining their database or going to a casting has to be free. Be wary if they ask you for money, intimate photos or to go alone, especially if you’re a minor. We explain how to recognize them in how to spot a fake casting call.

Some casting directors sell workshops. Before paying for one, ask whether it is a requirement to enter their database: going to a casting has to be free.

Frequently asked questions

Where are castings posted in Venezuela?

Mostly on Instagram: on the profiles of casting directors such as Marcos Purroy, Nany Castellanos and Luis Silva Castillo, on accounts such as @castingcallsvenezuela and on the social media of Venevisión and Villa del Cine. You can also check the castings section of Casting and Acting.

How do I write to a casting director in Venezuela?

The way each one asks in their profile or call: Luis Silva Castillo asks by direct message for your name, age, phone number, area and a recent photo, and Marcos Purroy receives materials by email. Keep current photos and your reel at hand.

Are there castings for Venezuelan actors who live abroad?

Yes: many agencies in other countries look for Venezuelan actors, and CastingsCineTV gathers several of those searches. Also see our guides for Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina.

Where can I study acting in Venezuela?

At UNEARTE, which is public and admits students through the OPSU system; at the Juana Sujo School in Caracas, which has trained actors since 1949; and in the Licenciatura en Actuación at the Universidad de Los Andes, in Mérida.

Do I have to pay to apply to a casting in Venezuela?

Applying to a casting has to be free: Venevisión’s open casting, for example, did not charge to audition. If someone asks you for money to take part, be wary; workshops are a separate matter and should not be a requirement.

List reviewed in October 2026. Contacts change: if an agency has stopped operating or you know one that is missing, let us know. For other countries, see the Latin America Casting Directory.
