How to Get Auditions in Honduras

Theater schools and companies

Theater is the strongest entry point in Honduras: it trains actors, builds casts and is where production companies usually look for talent. If you’re just starting out, you’ll find the whole path in how to become an actor from scratch.

Academia Nacional de Arte Dramático (ANAD)

Founded in 1976 in Tegucigalpa (formerly the ENAD), it is the only state institution that trains theater actors. It has a 3-year professional program starting at age 18, a Saturday program, a diploma program starting at 15 and a children’s lab for ages 7 to 14 (RadioHouse).

Círculo Teatral Sampedrano

A company founded in 1969 in San Pedro Sula, based at the Teatro José Francisco Saybe and with a 2026 season of performances. According to its director, its auditions are usually internal (La Prensa), so it pays to get to know them through their workshops and performances.

Teatro La Fragua

A theater company founded in 1979 that has worked in El Progreso (Yoro) since 1980. It gives acting training workshops and has performances scheduled in 2026.

Institutions and film festivals

Following them lets you find out which films are about to be shot and hear about residencies and workshops for actors.

Festival Ícaro (Honduras)

A Central American film festival with a Honduran chapter. In 2026 it opened an acting training residency with spots for Honduras, and its national page lists recent Honduran shorts and feature films.

Instituto Hondureño de Cinematografía (IHCINE)

It administers the public funds for Honduran films, such as the “Sami Kafati” call. It announces the projects that receive funds and are going to be filmed, although it doesn’t post castings.

Websites and social accounts that post castings in Honduras

There are few websites that gather calls for Honduras, so these sources work alongside the social accounts of the production companies and theater companies above. If you’re thinking of registering on international platforms, see which casting websites are worth using for the market you’re aiming at.

• Castings on Casting and Acting: castings and auditions posted on the site, with a country filter.
• Locutores.net (Honduras): an open call for Honduran voice-over artists: they ask for a commercial demo of up to one minute and a photo.
• Festival Ícaro: calls, residencies and workshops for actors in the region.

How to prepare for a casting in Honduras

When a call comes up, the winner is whoever answers fast and with complete audition materials. Have this ready before you write to any agency:

• Acting resume on one page, with your details, measurements, training and experience. Guide: how to make an acting resume.
• Headshots with current photos of your face, profile and full body. You can put them together at home: how to take headshots at home.
• Reel with your best scenes or, if you don’t have any work yet, a one-minute intro video. Guide: how to make an acting reel.
• Self-tape for remote castings: front lighting, a plain background and good audio. More details in what is a self-tape.

Watch out for fake castings

Reputable agencies and production companies in Honduras charge the people who hire them, not the actors: joining their database or going to a casting has to be free. Be wary if they ask you for money, intimate photos or to go alone, especially if you’re a minor. We explain how to recognize them in how to spot a fake casting call.

Frequently asked questions

Where are castings posted in Honduras?

Mostly on the social accounts of the production companies (Terco Producciones, Thau Honduras), the theater companies (the Círculo Teatral Sampedrano, Teatro La Fragua) and the festivals (such as Ícaro). You can also check the castings section of Casting and Acting.

Are there casting agencies in Honduras?

There are modeling agencies and agencies for event hosts (edecanes), but when we reviewed this list in October 2026 we found no casting agencies with active public calls. Calls for film and theater usually come directly from the production companies and theater companies.

Do Honduran films hold open castings?

Sometimes. Riccy Mabel, for example, held open castings with free workshops in four cities. To hear about them in time, follow the production companies and the IHCINE, which announces the projects that receive funds.

Where can I study acting in Honduras?

The Academia Nacional de Arte Dramático, in Tegucigalpa, is the only state acting training institution, with programs starting at age 7. In San Pedro Sula there is the Círculo Teatral Sampedrano and in El Progreso, Teatro La Fragua, which also offer workshops. If you can, choose workshops that end with a showcase: it is a concrete way to get experience as a beginner.

Do I have to pay to apply to a casting in Honduras?

Reputable production companies and theater companies charge the people who hire them, not the actors. If a call asks you for money to take part, or for a required headshot package with their own photographer, be wary.
