How to Get Auditions in Puerto Rico

In this article

Quick answer: in Puerto Rico, castings come from the agency Casting Puerto Rico (Luis Torres), from talent databases such as the one run by Discover Puerto Rico and from productions that shoot on the island. As a U.S. citizen you can also use U.S. casting platforms. Have your acting resume, headshot and reel ready.

Puerto Rico is a regular Hollywood set: between 2015 and 2023, 35 projects were shot on the island, such as Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai (Puerto Rico Film Commission). The government offers a tax credit of up to 40% on what is paid to residents, and its new decree asks productions to commit to hiring local actors and crew (Puerto Rico Film).

Because Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, its actors can work in the U.S. market without a visa. The local industry, however, depends heavily on shoots: when Porto Rico, the film by Residente with Bad Bunny, ended up shooting in the Dominican Republic, the technicians’ union warned that more than 1,500 families in the sector were still out of work (Metro).

Agencies and talent databases

The island has few agencies with public channels. That is why it pays to be in every open talent database.

Casting Puerto Rico (Agencia Luis Torres)

A talent agency in Mayagüez that says it has 31 years in the industry and represents actors for commercials, such as a Triple-S one in October 2026. It asks professional actors to send their complete materials.

Discover Puerto Rico Talent Database

The island’s tourism organization opened a talent database in 2026 for its advertising campaigns: it is looking for people ages 25 to 60, with or without experience, and asks for contact details, age, headshot and reel. Pay depends on each production.

TV channels

Local channels open auditions for their shows. Telemundo Puerto Rico and WAPA do not have casting sections on their websites. For Telemundo’s telenovelas, the usual route is through casting directors and agencies, as we explain in the guide to getting cast in TV shows.

TeleOnce

In March 2026 it held open in-person auditions for Boricuas con Talento in Guaynabo, Ponce and San Germán. It is a talent show (music, dance, comedy), not an acting one, but it helps you gain experience in front of the camera.

Watch out for fake castings

Reputable agencies and production companies in Puerto Rico charge the people who hire them, not the actors: joining their database or going to a casting has to be free. Be wary if they ask you for money, intimate photos or to go alone, especially if you’re a minor. We explain how to recognize them in how to spot a fake casting call.
